This is It: a concept never seen before

The Italian shipyard tecnomar is offering this nearly 44-metre-long catamaran with atypical design. The interior is just as original, incorporating the design codes of a luxury villa.

Commissioned by self-made Cypriot billionaire Tasos Papanastasiou, the “This is it” catamaran made quite an impression when it was officially presented for the very first time at the Monaco Yacht Show 2023. This luxury yacht measures 43.50 metres (143 feet) in length and a beam of 14.78 metres, with a draft of 2.25 metres. Build of the powercat, which boasts a total glazed surface area of around 600 square metres (6,458 square feet) in total, began in a Turkish yard for the aluminum hull, before moving to Carrara, Italy, to Tecnomar (Italian Sea Group) for the interior fittings and everything else. The Italian shipyard is world known for producing the Lamborghini 63 sport yacht and famous super yachts brands like Perini Navi, Admiral Yachts or Picchiotti. According to Gian Marco Campanino and Mattia Piro, The Italian Sea Group’s designers “the main inspiration for this luxury catamaran style comes from the automotive world, therefore based on aerodynamics rules, fluid and organic lines, and flexible and dynamic shapes”. “The realisation of this extraordinary project challenges the “conventional” perceptions, driving us to completely recreate the boundaries of aesthetic parameters,” commented Giovanni Costantino, founder and CEO of The Italian Sea Group (TISG), at the yacht launch in Monaco.

Furthermore, “the careful weight distribution study was a significant factor in the engineering design process, especially considering the large amount of glass used in the project,” adds the shipyard crew. The hull lines was optimized to enhance hydrodynamic efficiency, leading to a significant reduction in fuel consumption and, therefore, emissions. In compliance with IMO Tier III requirements, the yacht is equipped with innovative exhaust gas treatment technology (SCR – Selective Catalytic Reduction) to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. Onboard, the interior confuses visitors with its asymmetrical architecture and amazing futuristic design like a glass house on water. “What applies to the exterior lines also applies to the interior style,” explains Gian Marco Campanino, The Italian Sea Group designer who led the unique project. The cocooning ambience onboard is complemented by a touch of smooth, “mood and feel”, pure luxury, thanks to the use of sophisticated and precious materials. Leather and Alcantara, oak and teak, dialogue with the sinuous shapes, marked by bold geometric cuts and grey marble inserts. Silk wall panels accompany ceilings with bronze, platinum, and gold finishes.

With a crew of 12, “This is it” can easily accommodate twelve guests in six cabins, including a spectacular owner’s suite upstairs with ceiling skylights (11-foot-tal) and a superb panoramic terrace. A dream for charter use or a cruise with friends! The main salon features a huge bar and games area, with plenty of sofas for convivial gatherings. The dining room, at the very front, opens onto a large forward deck. Finally, the Italian yacht also offers a massage room, sauna room and a galley with polarized glass for events and show cooking, mirrors the futuristic vision of the exteriors. An extendable dock gives plenty of space for an collection of water toys like Seabobs, jet skis, wake boards, paddle boards, kayaks or e-foils, not forgetting large chase boat and a tender RIB. Powered by two MTU engines, each rated at 2,636 hp, the “This is it” catamaran sails at a good top speed of 19 knots, offering a smooth and silent experience even when running at full gas. At 10 knots, the yacht gives a range of around 3,500 nautical miles.
