Bombardier global 8000

Scheduled to enter service later this year, this ultra-long-range commercial jet will be the fastest after Concorde’s demise in 2003. The Global 8000 boasts a range of 8,000 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 0.94 (660 mph) while guaranteeing a very comfortable travel experience for 19 business or leisure passengers. Designed by Bombardier Aerospace, founded in Canada in 1942, and currently in its final assembly stage, the Global 8000 wears an eye-watering price tag of $81 million, plus customisations from $5 to $10 million, and annual operating costs from $1.8 to $2.9 million. Seen as a major milestone, especially by travellers in a hurry, the Global 8000’s speed is capped at Mach 0.94 for commercial use, with a typical cruise speed of 0.85 (646 mph) – though its test flights attained 1.015 in terms of potential versus Concorde’s top speed of almost 2.04 (over twice the speed of sound). Depending on your destination, you may have time to enjoy the jet’s customisable four-zone cabin, 6 ft 2 inches high, 8 ft wide, with four spacious suites, luxurious conference and entertainment areas, and a Soleil lighting system which is joined by a very low cabin altitude of 2,900 ft and a Pur Air carbon filter to minimise stress, refresh, and combat jet lag. Finally, the Global 8000’s Smooth Flex Wing ensures best all-weather performance and the smoothest ride.
